ALPINE
“Alpinism is the art of going through the mountains confronting the greatest dangers with the biggest of cares. What we call art here, is the application of a knowledge to an action. ”
Alpine climbing takes a progression of skills, and applies them towards a mountain objective. From High Sierra traverses to complex glacier routes in the Cascades, we can build the skillsets necessary to travel to the iconic alpine climbing destinations of the world, such as the Alps and the Cordillera Blanca.
THE HIGH SIERRA
The Range of Light is one of the finest venues for summertime alpine climbing in the US. Hundreds of miles long, there are objectives that range from clean, sweeping faces to complex and airy ridges, all on immaculate granite. With a generally stable weather pattern, June through September is the best time to visit the Sierra.
Trips are booked through a valid USFS/NPS commercial permit holder.
The CASCADES
This is the place to practice alpinism in the Lower 48. Glaciers cover the landscape, with serpentine rock ridges towering above. Whether you are new to glaciated climbing or already have some experience, there are many routes to choose from. Objectives such as the North Ridge of Mount Baker and the Northwest Face of Forbidden Peak are considered some of the best quality alpine routes in the country.
INTERNATIONAL
Take the skills you have developed and apply them to some of the classic alpine climbing objectives in the world. These are custom, low-ratio programs that involve cultural experience as well as challenging and rewarding alpinism.
