ICE

An ephemeral medium, water ice climbing is not just great training for alpinism, but is a thought-provoking and challenging pursuit on its own.

ABOUT ME

A professional IFMGA Mountain Guide and educator, my goal is to facilitate a unique experience in the mountains, and to provide safe opportunity for challenge and growth.

I grew up near the coastal tidewaters of the Puget Sound in Washington State, but have since traded moss and rain for the sunshine and splitter cracks of the Sierra Nevada.  Since graduating from Western Washington University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Adventure Management, I have called the Sierra home. Beginning with leading extended backcountry mountaineering and backpacking trips for the Outward Bound School all over the range, I finally settled down in Mammoth Lakes to enjoy the unbelievable skiing and climbing the Eastside is famous for.

My passion for adventure has taken me around the world, from Yosemite Valley where I have climbed more than 20 big walls including a 9 day ascent of Tribal Rite on El Capitan, and 6 seasons in Patagonia where I have made many major ascents including Fitz Roy and first ascents of remote alpine walls.

Professionally, I have taken courses and exams in the mountain guiding craft through the AMGA (American Mountain Guides Association), which assesses guides in the rock climbing, alpine climbing and ski touring disciplines. Upon successful completion of examinations in all disciplines, an 8 year process, I became a fully certified, internationally recognized IFMGA Mountain Guide.
